Sportsman Channel’s “Apex Predator” Host Has Otter Ideas as He Dives Into Season Finale on Thursday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

NEW BERLIN, WI (May 11, 2015) – River otters and humans share few, if any, of the same physical traits. A fact Remi Warren, host of Sportsman Channel’s original series Apex Predator, must learn to overcome. Warren will attempt to adapt to the underwater lifestyle while spearfishing for amberjacks in Florida waters – as an otter. Warren dives into the season finale of Apex Predator Thursday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

ApexPredatorOtter-320x200North American River Otters know the ropes of underwater hunting. With webbed feet, streamlined bodies, and ability to hold their breath for up to eight minutes, they are highly-successful predators. Warren does not share any physical traits with the animal, so he must train to adapt. The host meets with experts to learn the ways of the otter and how to best conserve energy as an underwater hunter. He then puts his newfound knowledge to the test, on a journey below sea level to spear an amberjack off the Gulf Coast of Florida.

“I never thought I’d be able to hold my breath for as long as I did,” marveled Warren. “After I got up from the water, I felt that I could have stayed under for another minute or so. But this just gives me a starting point – something to go off of. Overall, I felt like I became the otter, but this is something I will continue to practice.”

SavingPrivateK9FischerDrak-320x200After two deployments, Drak and Sgt. Fischer knew it was possible to get through almost any challenging situation while on deployment together. The team was presented with their next mission to one of the most dangerous cities in Afghanistan, but Sgt. Fischer was hopeful he and his loyal canine partner would be successful. Once the duo entered Sangin, all began as planned and the locals welcomed them to the area. But in a dangerous turn of events, a suicide bomber drove through camp. What happened next would test their bond and ability to overcome adversity like never before.

“I got a phone call from our kennel master telling me that there was a request for a drug dog in Sangin, and he needed me to go,” explained Fischer. “So that phone call felt like I got punched or kicked in the gut. It was a huge eerie feeling, because at that time Sangin was the most kinetic place that there was in-country. It was like no other feeling I had ever had before.”

NEW BERLIN, WI (May 4, 2015) – “Man’s best friend” is often considered loyal, unwavering and tenacious – the definition of Reno, a German Shepherd partnered with Officer Tim Nading of the Des Moines, Iowa Police Department. In this week’s episode of Sportsman Channel’s Saving Private K-9, viewers meet an exceptionally brave dog who – despite experiencing one of the most grueling suspect apprehensions he has ever encountered – soldiers on.

Tune in to the award-winning original series Saving Private K-9 on Thursday, May 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

k9Officer Nading and his K-9 partner, Reno, were known as an unstoppable team. This week, viewers witness the strength of their bond. When the duo responds to a call to assist in the apprehension of a suspect on the run, the chase leads them to a densely wooded area. Police officers lose sight of the suspect and Reno is deployed to find him. But when Reno alerts Nading to the suspect’s location, all he can see is a gun – pointed directly at him. Reno lunges forward in an attempt to disarm the newly discovered suspect, and in doing so, begins a grueling battle for survival.

“Some people don’t understand the connection. ‘It’s just a dog,’ they’ll say. But they have never been through the stuff that we’ve been through,” said Officer Nading. “The bond that I had with Reno is probably the strongest bond I’ve ever had. The work things we went through, the emotional things I’ve been through, he has been the one constant that has never left my side.”

Sportsman Channel’s “Apex Predator” Soars on Thursday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT

NEW BERLIN, WI (May 4, 2015) – With eyesight estimated to be eight times greater than a human’s, and a wingspan up to seven and a half feet wide, it is no wonder Remi Warren, host of Sportsman Channel’s original series Apex Predator, is fascinated by the Golden Eagle’s attributes and ability to hunt. This week’s episode takes Warren inside the mind of the massive bird in an attempt to mimic its predatory style using modern optics in pursuit of the elusive Mexican Coues deer. Apex Predator airs Thursday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

ApexPredatorRemiWarren-320x200Humans have long been fascinated by a bird’s ability to fly, and the coveted “bird’s eye view” it provides. It is an advantage birds like the Golden Eagle use on their quest to survive – to discover and devour prey. Warren hopes to gain that advantage, but before heading out into the mountains of Mexico, he must learn what it takes to obtain vision so powerful, medium sized prey become visible from up to two miles away. Warren has the opportunity to use modern optics to assist in his hunt, but he lacks the luxury of flight and the ability to dive down to the ground at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. Warren journeys to higher ground, but when a Coues deer appears, will the apex predator reach his prey in time?

“Even as a hunter who uses optics and hunts like this a lot – I learned something new,” admitted Warren. “I got up high in the mountains, I glassed, I tried to keep as true to the way the eagle would spot things as I could. I’m thankful that I learned this lesson and I feel pretty darn excited about everything I got to experience.
