Outdoor Channel Launches New Original Series “Alaska’s Wild Gourmet” on April 2 at 7 p.m. ET/PT

Organic Cooking Series Adds to Network’s Newly Expanded Programming Lineup

DENVER (March 30, 2016) – Outdoor Channel cooks up another original series with
Alaska’s Wild Gourmet, premiering on Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m. ET/PT. The new series follows the high-spirited and hard-working Ewing family as they manage a bustling, remote catering business creating five-star gourmet meals made straight from mother nature’s ultimate test kitchen – the wild, Alaskan outdoors. Conquering one of the last culinary frontiers, this pioneering series tackles some of the country’s toughest terrain to redefine what it means to “eat like a wild man.”

“Farm-to-table cuisine is taken to an entirely new level when we see the understanding of local resources and commitment to quality it takes for the Ewing family to create such exquisite meals on Alaska’s Wild Gourmet,” said Mitch Petrie, vice president, programming for Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks (OSG), the parent company of Outdoor Channel. “We expect viewers to be amazed by the creativity and resourcefulness the Ewings use to prepare their unique and lavish culinary experiences, and to fall in love with the family’s adventurous spirit, reverence of nature and deep sense of loyalty.”

The mobile camp kitchen, and heart of the show, was created by Sherri, the owner and matriarch of the family’s upscale, remote catering business – “Red Hot Cooking.” The head chef is her son, Bradley. The natural-born outdoorsman and classically-trained culinary artist graduated from the world-renowned, Le Cordon Bleu in 2004 before moving to Alaska to join his mother. Bradley’s sister, Amy, rounds out the good-humored cast as the company’s visual designer, charged with the tall task of helping her mom and brother create the family’s swanky and purely Alaskan dining experiences.

Passionate about creating meals made entirely from locally foraged, fished and farmed ingredients, the cast of Alaska’s Wild Gourmet braves the most secluded corners of the Alaskan bush, endures the ever-changing weather, and even risks encounters with deadly animals in the first season’s eight episodes. And things get saucy from the very beginning.

On the premiere episode, the family decides to give back to a local Kodiak veteran community by serving an appreciation dinner overlooking the beautiful, heavily forested island. However, when unexpected high winds and a looming storm front threaten to ruin the entire function, tensions nearly reach a boiling point among the Ewing clan in an episode as unpredictable as the local climate.
From beach banquets and mountain meals to birthday bashes in the bush, no terrain is too tough for the Ewings’ delectable mobile kitchen creations. Alaska’s Wild Gourmet satisfies the appetite for adventure while demonstrating that it is truly possible to live off of the land – and it’s delicious.

Click Alaska’s Wild Gourmet to get a nibble of the original series that will leave viewers hungry for more. Fans can follow and interact with the show to discuss meals and more on Twitter using #AlaskasWildGourmet.

In addition to the original series, viewers can discover even more about Alaska by watching other series on the network including:

Since moving to OSG Networks, Outdoor Channel has been expanding its brand to include more original programming like Alaska’s Wild Gourmet and the conservation and wildlife investigation series Carter’s W.A.R. (Wildlife Animal Response), as well as airing syndicated hit franchise programs like Duck Dynasty and Top Shot in efforts to expose a fuller range of outdoor adventure programming and appeal to wider audiences.
