As Summer Rolls in, the Network is Feeling the Heat: A/C Breaks in “Duck Dynasty”; Florida Heat Effects Turkey Hunt in “Away” and the Boys Head to the Arizona Desert in “Gridiron Outdoors”

DENVER (June 2, 2016) – With summer quickly approaching and some areas of the country already feeling summer temperatures, Outdoor Channel promises to contribute to the heat wave during the week of June 6–12 with original and compelling programming.

Viewers will continue to quack – duck-duck-duck-duck – with four episodes in a row of Duck Dynasty airing every Monday night. First, Willie and Korie decide to buy their son his own car after he leaves the pickup in the driveway with an empty gas tank. Next, a disgruntled Uncle Si quits his job at the Duck Commander. Then, Willie installs a surveillance system in the warehouse after Jase breaks into his office for supplies. Lastly, as luck would have it, when a heatwave rolls into West Monroe, Louisiana, the A/C unit in the Duck Commander warehouse simultaneously breaks down – turning the assembly room into a sweltering sweatshop.

Then, viewers will cozy up at home with Friday Night at the Movies airing the 1972 film – Jeremiah Johnson, a mountain man who yearns to live a solitary life but, through his impressive one-on-one combat skills, quickly becomes wrapped up in a long vendetta with Native Americans. Then, Away presented by Go RVing airs the second episode in the four-part mini-series, where a group of four guys head to the Florida Panhandle for a turkey hunt – in grandpa’s conventional travel trailer. When the birds are no where to be found due to the Florida heat, the guys grab their tackle boxes and head to the coast to see what’s biting.

Next, Major League Fishing airs the second round of sudden death in the Shell Rotella Challenge Cup, with only three competitors advancing to the championship. Finally, Gridiron Outdoors closes out the week with a two-part special. The sons of two-time Super Bowl quarterback, Jeff Hostetler, organize an Arizona desert hunt as a gift to their father.

Sportsman Channel’s Doug Koenig Takes Home His 17th Bianchi Cup

Smith & Wesson Professional Shooter Makes History as 17-Time Winner of  NRA’s National Pistol Championship

DENVER (June 1, 2016) – The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) National Pistol Championship played host to history recently as Sportsman Channel’s Doug Koenig took home his 17th Bianchi Cup. The Smith & Wesson professional shooter has been called “the most dominant competitor since its [the championships] beginning in 1979” by Outdoor Wire editor and long-time competition shooter, Jim Shepherd. The next in line for most wins at the Bianchi Cup is Bruce Piatt with five.

The Bianchi Cup is one of the most prestigious events in shooting. Taking place over five days, the tournament tests a shooter’s skills at several positions and distances, from cover, and against moving targets. This year’s Championship had a change in format, with the new Colt Championship Final putting the top competitors by class and division in what is essentially a second firing of the match. Koenig had the lead going into the Colt Championship Final with a perfect score of 1920-183X. His combined Match X and Colt Championship Final aggregate score was 3840-361X, two points higher than this year’s runner-up, Troy Mattheyer.

When asked about his prepartation routines and how he handles the pressure of competition, Koenig, who also is the host of Doug Koenig’s Championship Season on Sportsman Channel (Thursday nights at 7 p.m. ET), keeps fairly quiet. “I consider myself a professional athlete and as such, I dedicate more of my time and focus to being physically and mentally prepared year ‘round,” said Koenig. “My routines are tailored to my age, and courses of fire I shoot. And my diet is also prescribed to my specific needs, not just in the weeks leading up to a competition, all year.”

See all of Koenig’s professional accomplishments here.

Tune in for Doug Koenig’s Championship Season on Sportsman Channel on Thursdays at 7 p.m. ET.

About Doug Koenig’s Championship Season: From remote hunting destinations to the firing line, join your host and world shooting champion Doug Koenig on his quest for the ultimate trophies in “Doug Koenig’s Championship Season.” This fast-paced TV show features a gritty combination of shooting competition and in-your-face hunting adventure.
