DENVER (August 2, 2017) – Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG) announces personnel changes within the integrated media publishing arm of the company. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group President and CEO, Jim Liberatore.
“The promotions and staff additions in our magazine brands are made to reinforce our reputation as the best outdoor lifestyle content providers in the world,” Liberatore said. “We have – hands down – the most creative and insightful talent in the outdoors, and our content consistently demonstrates it.”
Mike Schoby, formerly Editor of Petersen’s Hunting and Associate Publisher of Wheels Afield, will take the helm as Shooting Group Publisher. Schoby’s experience at OSG, Cabela’s, and Gander Mountain have allowed him to forge deep and meaningful relationships with industry partners. His depth of experience, including a keen understanding of marketplace drivers and issues, will be a valuable asset in his new role.
Joining Schoby will be Associate Publisher Pat Hogan, formerly Associate Publisher of North American Whitetail Magazine. Hogan has demonstrated strong skills in the planning and execution of television production, contract negotiation and budget management. His analytical business approach and team collaboration will serve well in his new role in the important shooting-sports arena.
Industry veteran and talented contributor Dave Draper, formerly of Cabela’s, has replaced Schoby as Editor of Petersen’s Hunting. Draper will be assisted by newly-promoted Hunting Managing Editor, Kali Parmley. Since joining OSG in 2015, Parmley has proven to be a critical driver in elevating the appearance and reader value of this important brand in the OSG portfolio. She has gained valuable in-field experience in the pursuits Petersen’s Hunting Magazine covers in print, digital and television. A talented multimedia contributor, Parmley will be instrumental in the brands’ consumer growth plans.
Danny Farris, formerly Associate Publisher of OSG bowhunting titles, replaces Hogan as Associate Publisher of North American Whitetail Magazine, Gun Dog and Wildfowl brands. Farris’ knowledge of OSG systems, customers and internal constituents are a great asset in his newly expanded role. Farris will be responsible for developing future growth in these industry-leading properties and report to veteran publisher Tom Weaver.
In the OSG Special Interest Publication (SIP) group, Katie McCarthy, formerly Associate Editor, has been promoted to Managing Editor, having been instrumental in the many branded SIPs and client magazines throughout the last year. Also joining the SIP division is Associate Editor Jim Angell, who assumes a big role and responsibilites in this growing segment of the business.
