“Daily Catch” Casts Lines on World Fishing Network

DENVER (September 20, 2016) – As the crisp air returns and adventurers catch ‘buck fever’ or seek new ‘honey holes’ in their favorite fishing outpost, Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network present a new slate of fall programming with original premieres and new episodes from returning series across all three networks beginning on Monday, September 25.

Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel are focusing on the No. 1 big game animal – deer – with the addition of #DeerWeek presented by Cabela’s running October 15–21 (7 p.m. to midnight ET). World Fishing Network is keeping tabs on the latest sweet spots for fall fishing with new shows and episodes highlighted by their “daily catch” blocks of programming beginning at 8 p.m. ET nightly.

“The outdoor industry loves this time of year and we couldn’t agree more,” President and CEO of Outdoor Sportsman Group, Jim Liberatore said. “We are bringing something new and exciting to our programming this fall – #DeerWeek. We hope our loyal and passionate viewers will come in from their outdoor activities long enough to watch Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel highlight programming that is a new and exciting development for us. We also encourage our ‘bait and tackle’ enthusiasts to tune into World Fishing Network to enjoy our new programming and view the very best outdoor lifestyle content on television.”

Open season begins now on Outdoor Channel with original programming premieres of Dropped: Expedition South Pacific (Mondays 9 p.m. E/P), in which brothers Chris and Casey Keefer are dropped on a remote part of New Zealand and told to fend for themselves and Wild Ops Presented by John Deere (Mondays 9:30 p.m. E/P) showcases a team of veterinarians tracking animals in need of health-help. Plus, don’t miss a week of all-deer episodes on #DeerWeek beginning October 15 and the continuation of “Big Country Fridays” with a mix of country music faces and western movies.

  • #DeerWeek (October 15-21, 7 p.m. to midnight): Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel will introduce a new concept to deer hunting season on television. Hosted by Michael Waddell and Tom McMillan, this premier event will showcase non-stop deer action on television while incorporating educational information, unique recipes, hunting tips and more through Outdoor Sportsman Group’s print, digital (MyOutdoorTV) and social media platforms.
  • Dropped: Expedition South Pacific (Monday, September 25, 9 p.m. E/P): In a land formed by volcanoes and earthquakes, Chris and Casey Keefer are pushed to their limits when they are “dropped” with little more than the clothes on their back into the rugged backcountry of New Zealand.
  • Wild Ops Presented by John Deere (Monday, September 25, 9:30 p.m. E/P): On Wild Ops, veterinary medicine meets Delta Force intensity. A crack team of veterinarians and pilots attempt to capture, study and relocate wild animals. Once captured, the team administers necessary medicines and tracking devices to ensure the health of the animals – and species – for generations.
  • “Big Country Friday” Nights return with new addition Buck Commander (Fridays, 6:30 p.m. ET), followed by Craig Morgan All Access Outdoors (Fridays, 7 p.m. ET) and Nick’s Wild Ride (Fridays, 7:30 p.m. ET). The evening concludes with classic and modern western cinema blockbusters beginning at 8 p.m. ET, including Legends of the Fall, with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins; Geronimo: An American Legend starring Gene Hackman and Robert Duvall; and North to Alaska featuring John Wayne.

Hunters orange will dominate Sportsman Channel this fall, especially during the premiere of #DeerWeek on October 15-21. And when it comes to hog eradication – who do you call? Brian “Pigman” Quaca returns with another Aporkalypse installation: Aporkalypse Aerial Poison on October 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET with past Aporkalypse events airing prior at 5 p.m. ET. Don’t miss Sportsman Channel’s other unique marathons including the return of “Racksgiving” the week of Thanksgiving and “A Caribou Christmas” on December 23.

  • Guns & Ammo (Thursdays, 9 p.m. ET): Award-winning Guns & Ammo presented by Brownells, entering its 15th season on air and voted by viewers as the “Best Shoot Show” for multiple years, enters the second half of 2017 unveiling two new segments – Starting From Scratch and Suppressors 101 – and brings back the popular segment, Real World Training.
  • Bowhunter (Wednesdays, 10 p.m. ET): Heading into its 14th season of field production, Bowhunter is the television arm of “The No. 1 Bowhunting Magazine” and is dedicated to bringing viewers the entirety of bowhunting experiences. Executive Vice President and Group Publisher, Mike Carney, and long-time magazine Editor Curt Wells share the regular hosting duties.
  • Pigman: The Series (Sundays, 8:30 p.m. ET): Don’t miss Pigman’s newest installment of his highly-praised (and viewed) “Aporkalypse” series with Aporkalypse Aerial Poison on October 7 (7:30 p.m. ET). Following that special, tune in for Pigman’s regular timeslots on Sunday nights for the most energetic – and deadly – pig hunter on TV.
  • MCMILLAN (Tuesdays, 9 p.m. ET): Tom McMillan is a family man, rancher, farmer and hilarious guide to everyone from celebs to “regular Janes and Joes” on his Kansas property.

Fishing is more than just dropping a line in the water, which is why World Fishing Network brings anglers new adventure series this fall. Check out new series Wild Fish Wild Places that explores the people, places and culture surrounding fishing and Robson Green Grand Slam Fishing where host, Robson Green attempts 10 grand slams in 10 countries. Don’t miss WFN’s “Fish and Trips” block of programming on Sundays beginning at 8 p.m. ET with the sophomore season premiere of Charlie Moore: No Offense (9:30 p.m. ET).

  • iFISHIGAN (Tuesdays, 9 p.m. ET): iFISHIGAN takes place solely in Michigan. Hosted and produced by former National Bass Tournament Pro, Danny Leonard, each episode is “loaded to the gills” with big fish action and expert tips.
  • Wild Fish Wild Places (Sundays, 8 p.m. ET): Part travelogue and part documentary, this show is an exploration of people, places, culture and heritage. Viewers go around the world for fishing action with characters at every step.
  • Robson Green Grand Slam Fishing (Saturdays, 8 p.m. ET): Robson Green is on a mission to get one of the highest accolades in angling: a grand slam. In his new fishing show, he attempts not one, not two, but 10 grand slams in 10 different countries.
  • Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show (Wednesdays, 9 p.m. ET): Fishing is inherently unscripted, unpredicatable and humorous, just like Mark Zona. In each episode, he will fish with the very best anglers to catch anything with fins.

Other Q4 Highlights include:

  • Outdoor Channel
    • Lonesome Dove Weekend (October 13–14, 8 p.m. ET): The iconic mini-series comes to Outdoor Channel for two nights.

Humbling Duck Hunt with Decorated War Veteran Embodies True Bravery on Outdoor Channel’s The Fowl Life with Chad Belding

Humbling Duck Hunt with Decorated War Veteran Embodies True Bravery on
Outdoor Channel’s The Fowl Life with Chad Belding

DENVER (September 7, 2017) – Humbling. Heroic. Brave. These are a few of the words to describe a unique two-part series of The Fowl Life with Chad Belding airing exclusively on Outdoor Channel beginning Saturday, September 9 and concluding on Saturday, September 16 (5:30 p.m. ET).

"The Fowl Life with Chad Belding" on Outdoor Channel
“The Fowl Life with Chad Belding” on Outdoor Channel

Inviting veterans on a hunt is not unusual for host, Chad Belding, and The Fowl Life crew. But this particular hunt involves a Navy SEAL Chief Jake Young (Ret.), who has been on hundreds of missions without fanfare or expecting anything in return – other than the knowledge of serving his country.

While the flyovers may be different this time for Chief Young, the camaraderie in camp is the same. Hunting on prime duck land in Hagerman, Idaho, along the fertile Snake River, Belding and property owner, John Shaw, are hosting The Freedom Hunter Project.

“We titled the episodes ‘Humbling Parts 1 and 2’ because that was the entire duck camp’s sentiment toward Chief Young,” Belding said. “He is the literal embodiment of American bravery. Don’t you dare call him a ‘hero.’ SEAL’s are far above seeking out or accepting titles such as that.”

The hundreds of missions that came without fanfare for Chief Young are where his valor truly shines. Several of his missions have even been later made into movies. However, three months into a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan, Chief Young and his team’s camp were ambushed. A grenade caused devastating injuries to his friend instantly and sent shrapnel his way. He thought the blood coming from his head was just a scratch.

Fast forward his return home; his wife and he started butting heads immediately. Something wasn’t right. He wasn’t himself. Finally, a cat scan was ordered and shrapnel was discovered lodged in Chief Young’s brain. Twenty-four months and nine brain surgeries later, his recovery was just beginning. His short-term memory will never recover. The headaches may never go away. The worst part for him is that he never gets to be a SEAL and serve his country again – but he can hunt ducks.

“This was an amazing episode to make,” Belding added. “Chief Young couldn’t have been more appreciative to The Fowl Life team for getting to hunt Hagerman Wings with us and we couldn’t have been more humbled. Hagerman owner, John Shaw, dedicated a piece of his land to him – called Chief Young Pond. This duck camp was different. This duck camp was humbled.”
