DENVER (April 24, 2018) – Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG) announced the promotion of Derek Sevcik to Executive Vice President, Group Publisher & Operations. Previously, Sevcik was Senior Vice President, Finance & Publishing Operations for Outdoor Sportsman Group. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group Publishing Chief Operating Officer, Michael Carney.

Sevcik will oversee the publishing operations of OSG’s 15 leading outdoor lifestyle multimedia brands, including Guns & Ammo, Fly Fisherman and Bowhunter.

“Derek has 15 years of direct publishing experience and has worked intimately with all of our brands for over a decade,” Carney said. “He brings a high-level of business and multimedia acumen to our group, and the necessary leadership skills required to manage our array of industry-leading branded media assets.”

Sevcik lives in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and works in the Outdoor Sportsman Group’s Harrisburg office. He is an avid fly fisherman who enjoys hunting and shooting sports in particular.

TORONTO/DENVER (April 16, 2018) – The search is on for the cast of THE BRIGADE, Outdoor Channel’s groundbreaking new expedition competition series. Thrill-seeking and adventure-loving men and women from across the United States and Canada are encouraged to apply for their chance to join the ultimate trek.

THE BRIGADE will retrace an epic 2600-mile fur trade route that links waterways from the coast of Oregon, traversing through two states, four Canadian provinces, two mountain ranges and five river systems before ending at the icy shores of Hudson Bay in Manitoba. Originally called “The York Factory Express,” it’s a thrilling and dangerous paddling odyssey unlike any other. THE BRIGADE must work together to navigate fierce whitewater, portage over mountains, and fish and hunt for sustenance all without fuel or GPS. There are no eliminations. Instead the competition relies on the collective strengths of its cast to hang on against all odds. Those who complete the expedition have the chance to share prize money up to $1,000,000.

DENVER (April 9, 2018) – Outdoor Sportsman Group’s Fly Fisherman magazine has named Ross Purnell as its new publisher. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group Publishing and Branded Media Chief Operating Officer, Michael Carney.

Purnell also will continue to function as the magazine’s editor, a role he’s filled since July 2008. He has been on the editorial staff of the magazine since July 1996.

“Ross has more than 30 years of history with Fly Fisherman,” Carney said. “He learned to fly fish from its pages, became a guide and a magazine advertiser, and has a broad range of publishing experience in the digital and multimedia world. His passion for the sport and his relationships in the industry make him uniquely suited to guide Fly Fisherman through its 50th anniversary celebrations and beyond.”

Purnell lives in Palmyra, Pennsylvania and works in the Outdoor Sportsman Group’s Harrisburg office. He has travelled the world with a fly rod and is also an avid rock and ice climber. If he’s not on top of a mountain, he’s down in the valley with a fly rod in his hand.
