Position Summary

All extensions of North American Whitetail (NAW) content (magazine, digital, digital video, social, photo, podcast) must adhere to a strong editorial vision that guarantees accurate, knowledgeable, engaging and timely information, delivered in an audience-centered manner. Our editorial standards and quality of content must be exemplary: We will be asking the NAW audience (and the entire, deer hunting community) to think of NAW as the world’s preeminent source of world class harvested whitetails, land management and deer hunting information. It’s imperative that all content on NAW’s platforms meet those expectations in order to serve and grow our audience.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary coordinator of gear coverage, working closely with
    in-house editorial staff, field editors and hunting manufacturers to deliver timely, technically oriented articles to NAW’s audience.
  • Conceptualize, assign, write and/or edit various magazine departments and feature articles.
  • Assist in the development of brand strategy and editorial calendars, working closely with the brand’s print, digital and social media teams to ensure consistent branding and maximum impact across multiple content-delivery platforms.
  • Assist the Art Director in the selection and/or assignment of photos, graphics and illustrations as needed.
  • Represent the NAW brand at trade shows, consumer expos and other industry events.

Performance Requirements/Skills

  • Must be a motivated self-starter with great organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines.

  • Strong computer skills, excellent people skills, a willingness to embrace new media and a passion for bowhunting are also critical.


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field, required.
  • A proven track record of content planning, creation and delivery is essential.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Normal office environment. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility enough to travel.
