Nature of Work:

Major League Fishing is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Manager, Digital Content Programming in our Tulsa, Oklahoma office. As a member of the growing MLF Digital Media team, this individual will report directly to the Sr. Director of Digital Media and Sr. Manager Digital Editorial.

Manager, Digital Content Programming is responsible for updating and maintaining and the Major League Fishing app with pages, articles, photos, videos and marketing/PR materials produced by the MLF and MLFLW digital content teams, as well as other departments within MLF/MLFLW.

This position also works closely with MLF IT to ensure the day-to-day accuracy and functionality of and interacts daily with MLF content and social media teams to ensure that the MLF website and social platforms are dynamic and up to date. This position requires a detail-oriented creative thinker and an expert in content-programming processes who can function at a high level under fast-paced, “live sports” deadlines.

This is NOT a regular 9-to-5 position. This individual will be working as part of a team that covers hundreds of bass fishing tournaments a year, which means occasionally working early in the morning, late at night and on the weekends.

Examples of work performed:

  • Edit and manage digital content programming in support of live event series; to include graphics, content, backend support and operational execution on
  • Coordinate among cross-functional departments to identify web challenges and site bugs. Proactively recommend and implement solutions.
  • Facilitate content and design objectives for assigned web projects, including landing pages and microsites.
  • Manage editorial workflow for new and existing pages. Update the web pages per edit/revision requests.
  • Review all content with a critical eye before it is published to the website and social media, editing accurately for spelling, grammar and MLF/AP style.
  • Oversee SEO initiatives including site optimization, keyword analysis, content, link-building, site auditing, and competitive analysis.
  • Support day-to-day web and content requests from varying company stakeholders.
  • Manage interior pages, such as event pages, angler profiles, TV schedule, standings, results and more.
  • Help manage digital editorial calendar and sponsorship deliverables by working with writers, videographers and social teams.
  • Communicate frequently with internal teams to track project status.
  • Assist in advancing and maintaining MLF’s social media strategy and publish content to social media platforms when necessary.

  • Minimum
    • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, a related field, or equivalent experience.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated expert-level experience with Word Press and various Content Management Systems
  • Experience with cloud-based online video platforms.
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems.
  • Experience in graphic design and video editing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML5/CSS preferred, not required
  • Professional experience website management or a related field.
  • Ability to build and maintain online communities and blogger relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline environment.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic video editing experience using Adobe Premiere is a plus.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills, both in person and by phone.
  • Knowledge of the professional bass fishing industry preferred, not required.
