Marketing Database Analyst

DEPARTMENT: Circulation
REPORTS TO: Manager, Consumer Marketing

Nature of Work:

As the Marketing Database Analyst, you will report to the Manager of Consumer Marketing and are responsible for managing OSG consumer marketing database that contains subscriber data for Outdoor Sportsman Group’s 15 consumer magazines.

Examples of work performed:

  • Customer data pulls to support internal marketing campaigns such as direct mail, email, surveys, etc.
  • Customer Segmentation – Using a proprietary database tool, selecting audience cohorts for targeted marketing promotions; understanding querying logic
  • Work closely as a support role for the Consumer Digital Marketing Manager in dealing with day-to-day interactions with our Email Service Provider (ESP). Light HTML coding required.
  • Perform some administrative duties including customer lookup, weekly reports invoice coding and tracking, tracking license usage from CRM tool.
  • Maintain data hygiene performing semi-annual NCOA, updating segmentation overlays, and purges of system files.
  • Report on metrics to optimize email performance.
  • Provide cross functional support and collaboration both internally and externally.
  • Work with marketing team to keep up with current and future privacy laws to maintain best practices with marketing activities regarding customer data.

  • Minimum
    1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in computer science.
    2. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Work experience as a data analyst or in a related field.
  • Experience with Excel
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain results and recommendations
  • High attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude


  • Salary range: $50,000 – $65,000 per annum
