CANDIDATE POOL: Internal/External Candidates



The Outdoor Sportsman Group – Networks Intern will learn and assist with various communications initiatives for Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and World Fishing Network, as well as OSG Publishing. This internship position will specifically focus on the topics of public relations, branding, publicity/promotional campaigns, social and digital media, as well as related events.


  • Weekly research and reports on outdoor lifestyle outlets/writers
  • Attend and participate in meetings with various company departments including consultants and members of the press
  • Execute specific projects and promotions as assigned with the ability of working independently and efficiently
  • Identify Top 10-20 key print, television, online, social influencers to establish key relations
  • Develop an internal directory of key talent, producers, shows and contact information
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Research outdoor lifestyle outlets/writers/bloggers for key influencers
  • Create document that will identify all OSG talent with show names, key contact information and photo ID
  • Attend and participate in meetings with various OSG department personnel and staff
  • Assist in providing professional phone coverage, screen mail and emails as required
  • Organize and track media coverage of all three networks
  • Assist in the creation of weekly and monthly press coverage reports
  • Assist in the collation of the monthly newsletter copy and images
  • Assist in the weekly/monthly reporting from CISION (press tracking/consolidation service) to establish and maintain key contact lists, distribution and analytic information that aids in helping establish where press is being generated, who is consuming it and what the publicity value is worth
  • Assist in writing weekly episodic press releases, special events, media advisories and follow up on the phone
  • Assist the entire Communications Department in procuring new press contacts locally, regionally and nationally
    • Assist in updating, maintaining and creating OSG databases and distribution lists of consumer, trade, endemic press outlets, as well as national entertainment and news outlets (TV, print, radio, online, blogs) using CISION
  • Assemble media kit/informational packets/thumb drives
  • Proofread articles, written and collateral departmental materials
  • Assist in the maintenance of OSG database of consumer, trade, endemic press outlets
  • Liaise between different departments to help ensure complete coverage of a message
  • Work with staff in handling OSG Communications social media platforms – posts, reviews and monitoring platforms to communicate positive and negative feedback from consumers
  • Liaise with OSG digital team members
  • Perform all duties that may be assigned to meet business needs
  • Monitor news in real-time for opportunities to connect OSG with current news storylines

  • Good working knowledge of word processing, Excel and spreadsheet software skills
  • Ability to work in environment with multiple departments and multiple networks and magazines

  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards preferred – if necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for promotional purposes
