Sportsman Channel Propels to No. 1 and Outdoor Channel Reaches No. 6 on Basic Cable in Year-Over-Year Percentage Growth Impressions among Key Demographic to End 2018

Sportsman Channel and Outdoor Channel Ratings Soar in 4Q2018

DENVER (January 9, 2019) – Sportsman Channel ended 2018 with roaring success as the network ranked as the No. 1 basic cable network in year-over-year percentage growth impressions with an uptick of 42 percent in the key demographic Men 25-54 for the month of December. Sister network Outdoor Channel ranked No. 6 (tie) in the same key demographic with 25 percent growth.

Sportsman Channel capitalized on the final weeks of 2018 in ratings by registering its highest-rated week in three years during the week of December 24-30. Sportsman Channel recorded its highest-rated primetime performance in more than three years on Christmas night. Christmas night delivered 10 of Sportsman Channel’s Top 12 highest-rated telecasts of the year with Men 25-54. During the month of December, Sportsman Channel increased its average impressions among Men 25-54 by 42 percent during total day (M-Su, 6a-6a) and increased its primetime average impressions by 56 percent (M-Su, 7p-12a).

Outdoor Channel also finished 2018 strong by improving on last year’s results for seven consecutive weeks including more than 50 percent improvement year-over-year each of the last three weeks. The last two weeks of 2018 also saw Outdoor Channel experience its top two highest-rated weeks of the year and its two highest-rated weeks in the last two years. During December 2018, Outdoor Channel increased its average impressions among Men 25-54 by 25 percent during total day (M-Su 6a-6a) and 31 percent in primetime (M-Su 7p-12a).

The last quarter of the year saw Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel increase their impressions year-over-year with Men 25-54 by 11 percent and seven percent, respectively. Sportsman Channel ranked No. 9 (tied) and Outdoor Channel ranked No. 15 among basic cable networks in viewers per viewing household (VPVH) with Men 25-54. Both networks were ranked among the Top 15 basic cable networks in year-over-year percentage growth in impressions during the last six months of 2018 in the same key demographic.
