Client Systems Administrator

NOTICE OF OPENING: Outdoor Sportsman Group
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
REPORTS TO: IT Systems Manager

Nature of Work:

Supporting Information Technology functions for Outdoor Sportsman Group offices at locations across the U.S.

Examples of work performed:

  • Supports daily operations for remote site desktop computing.
  • Supports daily operation and deployment of remote site computer room equipment
  • Deploys desktops and laptops (Win and Mac OS) to remote site users.
  • Works with appropriate IT staff on remote site infrastructure projects and initiatives including: virtualization, disaster recovery, network maintenance, security, telecom, active directory, and workstation management.
  • When applicable, instructs end users concerning fulfillment of IT initiatives.
  • Documents full range of remote site IT operations and activities.
  • Provides recommendations on hardware and software standards and products.
  • Support hardware and software acquisition withing budget restraints.
  • Collaborate with IT staff in the diagnoses of software, hardware, and operator problems; and provides feedback to staff and end-users.
  • Travel to remote sites and to support projects as necessary.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Service Desk operations as necessary.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Participates in disaster recovery/business continuity solutions.
  • Assists with telephone system support.
  • Available for covering after hours maintenance critical issues.
  • Builds PCs and sets up user accounts to company specifications.
  • Provides end user technical support and training, when applicable.
  • Moves hardware to accommodate personnel changes and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to:
    1. talk or hear – 80% of the time
    2. stand – 30% of the time
    3. walk – 20% of the time
    4. sit – 50% of the time
    5. use hands to finger to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls – 80% of the time
    6. reach with hands/arms, climb or balance – 10% of the time
    7. use close vision and have ability to adjust focus – 80% of the time.
  • Frequently lift or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift or move more than 50 lbs.
  • Noise level is usually moderate and occasionally very loud


  • Minimum
    1. Five years’ experience supporting PC and Microsoft products.
    2. Five years’ experience in PC hardware maintenance.
    3. High school diploma or GED, required
    4. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
  • Formal technical training or 4-year college degree, preferred
  • MCSE or equivalent certification preferred
  • CCNA or equivalent certification preferred

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the operation and support of a wide variety of IT functions including server and desktop hardware, networking, telecommunications, operating systems, and application software.
  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory networking operations
  • Experience with SAN/NAS systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows (server and desktop) operating systems
  • Advanced Knowledge of Apple operating systems
  • Knowledge of backup/disaster recovery/business continuity concepts and operations
  • Cooperative attitude and flexible approach to a wide variety of situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently


• Salary range $65,000 – $75,000 per year
