Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks Launch TV Special on April 16 Previewing Its Upcoming Original Program: “American Marksman”

April 13, 2016

DENVER (April 13, 2016) – Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks (OSG) is inviting viewers to watch a 30-minute special previewing its new, original program American Marksman, a revolutionary amateur shooting competition scheduled to premiere on Outdoor Channel in late 2016. To maximize exposure and increase competitor registrations, OSG will be airing the half-hour special titled: “Are YOU the American Marksman? on both Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel for an entire month. The special will feature qualifying rounds, as well as behind-the-scenes and early-round action leading up to the final show’s premiere. Registration is still open to those who want to participate in the competition and “take a shot” at the chance to appear on the program.

The “Are YOU the American Marksman? special will be hosted by 2012 U.S. Olympic shooting team member, Amanda Furrer and will first air on Outdoor Channel on Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. ET and on Sportsman Channel on Monday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Encore presentations of the special will air weekly in the same time slots on both networks – on the following Saturdays and Mondays respectively – through May 23.

“The ‘American Marksman’ program will feature everyday people competing against their friends, family and the rest of the country in this unique shooting competition,” said show producer Michael Bane. “We are excited that Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks are airing an early round special leading up to the program’s premiere because it will demonstrate to viewers how fun and exciting the American Marksman competition is, what participants can win, how to sign up to compete and even potentially be on the final show.”

The American Marksman program airing later this year will showcase a national search for the best amateur shooter in the United States where the winner will earn up to $50,000 in cash and prizes, and the title of the American Marksman. Registration to participate is available at AMMarksman.com. The American Marksman cameras will keep rolling throughout three phases: local qualifiers, regional championships and a national championship with the entire process airing exclusively on Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks.

The competition began in March 2016 with local qualifiers taking place at nearly 200 ranges in 47 states. The categories of competition include: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Junior (12-16) and Military/Law Enforcement, with the ultimate winner coming from any of those categories. Each round features .22 caliber rim fire courses of fire. As the competitors progress, they will be challenged with different calibers, targets and courses of fire. Advancing shooters will go to one of nine regional championships, which begin in June and proceed through August culminating in the National Championship in January 2017.

The full list of qualifying ranges and information on regional championships is available at www.AMMarksman.com. Visit American Marksman on Facebook for regular updates.
