DENVER (February 17, 2023) – One of the most knowledgable trappers today, Alan Probst, takes viewers into the history and skill of trapping fur animals in North American Trapper, airing Sundays at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel.

This series helps viewers achieve their own outdoor successes through education and instruction on viable trapping methods. These methods will help with predation control on hunting properties and more. Probst shows methods that are ecologically and environmentally sound, plus gets into the deep ancestry of trapping.

Alan Probst grew up in the outdoors with a family tradition that traces back to his great-grandfather, who was a hunter, trapper and lure maker. Think about it: rifle hunters can shoot an animal at ranges of 600 yards and even further. Bowhunters generally shoot animals at 20 to 40 yards. In short, hunters have a lot of flexibility when it comes to getting an opportunity to shoot an animal. Trapping, however, is much more precise and leaves far less room for error. In order to successfully trap an animal, they usually have to step inside a one or two-inch square area. It's this challenge that gave Probst the "fever" at just seven-years-old after trapping his first muskrat and the same "fever" that has driven his passion for trapping ever since. This kind of precision that trapping requires can make people think that it's too complicated or difficult so they write it off without trying.
