Michael de Avila began his career as a film producer and director and he, along with a college friend, started their own production company in 1993. They have produced feature films, commercials and now produce Lunkerville. The host is fascinated by local fishing spots and techniques that allows anglers to catch the biggest fish, which spawned the idea for Lunkerville. The show provides a unique experience for de Avila to travel to local fishing holes that yield monster fish, as taught by the real locals that fish there.
