Sportsman Channel Weekly Programming Highlights

Backpack Hunting in Idaho on “MeatEater”; Wyoming and Montana Hunting on  “The Jackie Bushman Show Classics”; Lightweight Hunting Rifles on “Guns & Ammo TV” and Self-Defense Training on “GunVenture”

DENVER (January 5, 2017) – Sportsman Channel viewers start the new year with all new shows that provide tips for hunting and shooting during the week of January 9–15. Steven Rinella seeks out the buck of his dreams in central Idaho on MeatEater; Nate Hosie appears on The Jackie Bushman Show Classics and gives advice for hunting in Wyoming and Montana; Craig Boddington tests several Kimber’s lightweight hunting rifles on Guns & Ammo TV and the hosts of GunVenture demonstrate self-defense tactics.

MeatEater starts Monday Night Hunts with Steven Rinella’s quest for a giant mule deer buck in central Idaho. To help Steve in his journey, Ryan Callaghan has offered up one of his best spots, as well as his keen spotting skills, as the duo backpack hunt in some of the West’s steepest and prettiest mountains. Then, on The Jackie Bushman Show Classics, Nate Hosie of Headhunters joins Jackie and talks about hunting in Wyoming and Montana.

Next up is Guns & Ammo TV on Lock and Load Thursday. Craig Boddington has always been a fan of Kimber’s lightweight hunting rifles, and he takes a closer look at their offerings, including the new Hunter bolt action. He also checks out the Range Officer and XDm, a pair of Springfield .45s. Finally, on GunVenture, Tom Gresham and the guys demonstrate how to fight off an attacker in close quarters with quick defensive strategies.

Cooking with the Family on “Duck Dynasty”; Hunting Bears on “Buck Commander”;  Rescuing Baby Rhinos on “Carter’s W.A.R.” and a Western Love Story on  “Friday Night at the Movies”

 DENVER (January 5, 2017) Outdoor Channel viewers will experience thrills and kills in all new programming during the week of January 9–15. Phil, Willie and Ms. Kay make a cooking video on Duck Dynasty; Ryan Langerhans is in Montana in search of a bear to take home on Buck Commander; Ivan Carter visits a secret orphanage for rescued baby rhinos on Carter’s W.A.R. and classic western film, Comanche Moon, highlights Big Country Fridays.

Four episodes of Duck Dynasty begin this week on Outdoor Channel. First, Phil, Willie and Ms. Kay attempt to produce a cooking video for their fans. Meanwhile, back at the office, the crew gets distracted experimenting with new duck calls. Next, brotherly competition gets the best of Willie when he ditches his kids’ career day to go play golf with Jase. Then, the night before Reed’s high school graduation, Willie, Jase, and Si take him frog hunting and dispense a few bits of unusual advice for his future. Finally, when the warehouse guys’ new office pet lizard escapes, they pull out all the stops in order to catch the wily reptile.

Big Country Fridays opens with Buck Commander. In this episode, Ryan Langerhans heads to Montana to chase bears and bison. Next up, on Carter’s W.A.R., while visiting a secret orphanage that cares for rescued baby rhinos, Ivan discovers the blood, sweat, and tears that go into saving this endangered species. Unexpectedly, an emergency phone call sends him on an adventure with a group of local heroes to save the next newly orphaned rhino. Next up is Comanche Moon on Friday Night at the Movies. Based on the final book in the Lonesome Dove series, this mini-series follows the adventures and love lives of young Texas Rangers, Woodrow Call and Augustus McRae, leading up to their retirement in the city of Lonesome Dove.
