Four Lifelong Friends Share the Hunting Lifestyle on Sportsman Channel’s Red Rising

OSG Logo New

DENVER (August 23, 2022) – Four lifelong friends that share an unbreakable bond forged by their passion for the outdoors and hunting lifestyle are featured in the series Red Rising, now airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel. Follow Jason Bowers, Eric Hale, Chris Ward and Matt Bullins as they travel across America in search of whitetail deer while documenting their adventures.

Jason Bowers was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. At an early age, he discovered a passion for hunting and the outdoor way of life. He has been filming outdoor television for more than 10 years.

Eric Hale literally lived outdoors. His family spent a lot of time chasing whitetails and wild turkeys, as well as catching big rainbow trout and smallmouth bass in mountain streams. Eric and his friend Chris Ward began filming professionally in the outdoor industry in 2003. Eric continues to work as a State Parole officer and has been a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Galax, the town he lives, for 17 years.

Some of Chris Ward’s greatest memories as a child were hunting with his dad and grandad in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He has always loved everything about the outdoors and hunting quickly became one of his greatest passions. Chris began filming with Eric Hale professionally with Drury Outdoors in 2003. After six years they branched out and started Legends of the Fall on the Outdoor Channel, where they remained for five years. Chris continues to be a Probation and Parole Officer for the state of Virginia, as well as owner/auctioneer of the Dawn Auction Company.

Matt Bullins grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in northwest North Carolina, where hunting wasn't just a hobby, but more of a way of life. His father stoked his passion and love for the outdoors and whitetails at an early age, and it fueled his desire to take it a step further. Matt began filming professionally as a freelance cameraman for several Drury Outdoors team members in 2005, while making several appearances on the hit TV series Bow Madness on Outdoor Channel and several Drury Outdoors DVD's. He continued this role until 2010 when he and Jason Bowers were selected as full time cast members for Dream Season: Workin' Man on the Outdoor Channel. Today, Matt serves as co-host, owner, president & CEO of Whitetail Fix and as a cast member of Red Rising.

Red Rising airs on Sportsman Channel on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Find Sportsman Channel in your area by visiting https://www.thesportsmanchannel.com/

‘Ducks Unlimited TV’ Celebrates 25 Years on Air

OSG Logo New

Saturdays at 2 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel

DENVER (August 8, 2022) – In 1937 during the Dust Bowl when North America’s drought-plagued waterfowl populations plunged to unprecedented lows, a determined group of sportsmen joined together to form an organization that became known as “Ducks Unlimited.” From this organization spawned the outdoor television show that today celebrates its 25th season on air – Ducks Unlimited TV (DU TV) – and is seen on Sportsman Channel (Saturdays at 2 p.m. ET).

Premiering in 1997, DU TV is the longest running conservation-based hunting show ever. In that time, it is estimated the series has influenced more than 40 million unique viewers with its messages of wise-use conservation, ethical hunting, as well as waterfowl and wetland restoration and management. The show began on “The Nashville Network” before moving to Outdoor Channel and, subsequently, to Sportsman Channel in 2021. During the last quarter century, the series has filmed in more than 350 locations across North America (United States, Canada and Mexico).

The show has featured multiple short informative segments over the years including: “Waterfowling Tip of the Week,” “Duck Dog,” “Insights” and “Duck Talk.” Cooking tips were also featured for many seasons.

Actor Jameson Parker (Simon and Simon) was the original host of DU TV during its first two seasons. The show has featured 16 co-hosts throughout its 25-year run with the late outdoor writer and conservationist Wade Bourne becoming synonymous with DU TV. Current hosts are Fred Zink, Doug Larsen and Betsy Newbill.

Ducks Unlimited is a wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization supported by a strong membership base of conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts living primarily throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thanks to 85 years of abiding by that single mission, Ducks Unlimited is now the largest and most effective private, nonprofit, waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization in the world.

Ducks Unlimited TV airs Saturdays at 2 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel and anchors “The Landing Zone presented by Ducks Unlimited” waterfowl and upland hunting lineup. Bonus content and classic episodes can be found at www.ducks.org/dutv.

Ducks Unlimited TV sponsors include: Drake Waterfowl, Browning Arms and Ammunition, Mossy Oak, Higdon Decoys, Purina, Tetra Hearing and Rolling Thunder Game Calls.

Ducks Unlimited Inc. is the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving North America's continually disappearing waterfowl habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than 15 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever. For more information on our work, visit www.ducks.org.
