Preparation and Persistence Define the Outdoorsman in ‘Final Draw’ Airing Now on Sportsman Channel

OSG Logo New

DENVER (April 21, 2023) – The preparation and persistence of the journey define the outdoorsman – not the trophy on the wall – as proven in Final Draw on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel.

Hosted by Carson and Lynsey Koury, Final Draw is based in the Piedmont of North Carolina, but hunting season takes them all over North America. They grew up hunting, fishing, camping and taking advantage of their surroundings. Their crew doesn’t always tag out, and sometimes they fall victim to bad shots or nerves, but it is understood that the hunt lies in the preparation and not the product. The Kourys know what it takes to go from setting trail cameras, patterning and planting food plots to hanging stands and spending hours waiting for that one perfect moment to pull that string back and settle the pin. This is Final Draw.

Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. Announces 2023 Slate of Events Across America Helping Homeless and Veterans

OSG Logo New

Annual Efforts to Feed the Needy Set to Begin in Baltimore with Comcast Partnership

DENVER – (April 18, 2023) – Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. program, which was initiated in 2007 to help feed people in need, announced its 2023 tour kicked off in Baltimore on April 18 at The Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training (MCVET) – with additional events to follow in Indiana, Colorado, California and Massachusetts.

The 2023 tour, in conjunction with Comcast, will continue raising awareness of the still-existing struggle with hunger in the United States, as well as shining a light on sportsmen and women’s contributions of game meat and fish in helping solve the problem. Since 2007, the network has served nearly 36,000 meals and donated seven tons of game meat and fish to shelters in more than 50 cities large and small across the United States.

The returning tour’s first stop at MCVET in Baltimore, Maryland features volunteers from Comcast and Outdoor Sportsman Group helping prepare and serve BBQed American Bison hoagies, potato salad with bacon and rosemary, fresh spring fruit salad, dessert and beverages to Baltimore-area veterans.

“The Hunt.Fish.Feed program has been to dozens of America’s greatest cities and towns doing our part to help correct a hunger problem that should not exist – especially for veterans,” Outdoor Sportsman Group Executive Vice President, Distribution & Affiliate Marketing Steve Smith said. “Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed. is thrilled to be in Baltimore for the first time – along with sponsors and partners like Comcast – working to do our part in combatting this problem.”

Hunt.Fish.Feed., created by Sportsman Channel, is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source – game meat and fish donated by sportsmen and women – to feed men, women and children struggling with hunger across America. An average event will utilize about 70 pounds of meat, which can feed nearly 150 people in need.

Sportsman Channel’s John McGannon begins his second year as the program’s Executive Chef. McGannon, a native of Northern California, is a lifelong hunter and fisherman who has spent more than 40 years perfecting his culinary skills. He works closely with volunteers gathered from each partnering location to lead and prepare meals. Local sportsmen and women donate meat or fish from their harvests for each meal and Outdoor Sportsman Group and its partners fill in the remainder to make a complete and nutritious meal.

“Hunt.Fish.Feed. is a program leading by example, representing the outdoor lifestyle community and the generosity of who they are,” McGannon said. “Since 2007, Sportsman Channel has been doing its part to call attention to the ongoing problem of hunger in America, especially with veterans. Our efforts to help solve this problem is unique and we hope others along the way will help the cause.”

“We are proud to deepen our partnership with Sportsman Channel and support another exciting year of Hunt.Fish.Feed. events to help feed people in need,” Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs for Comcast’s Beltway Region Misty Allen said.

The first half of the 2023 Hunt.Fish.Feed Schedule includes:

  • April 18 – Baltimore, MD
  • April 20 – Ft. Wayne, IN
  • May 16 – Denver, CO
  • May 18 – Sacramento, CA
  • September 21 – Lowell, MA

Entering the 2023 tour, Sportsman Channel has hosted nearly 100 events with its Hunt.Fish.Feed program, targeting those with some of the highest homeless populations, including: New York City, Los Angeles, Detroit, Denver, Orange County, Las Vegas, Houston and Washington, D.C., to name a few.

‘Ranch Life’ Highlighted in Outdoor Channel’s New Original Series ‘Ranch America’ on Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET

OSG Logo New

DENVER (April 17, 2023) – There’s a difference between cowboys and ranchers, which is discovered during the new, original series Ranch America airing Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET on Outdoor Channel. The show features Calaveras County rancher, chef and cowboy River Klass, who provides a fresh and contemporary perspective on the American West.

Watch a preview of the series here.

Klass and Ranch America help celebrate American horse and cattle ranches, the cowboy and cowgirl lifestyle and rodeo communities, as well as the remarkable and scenic canvas that serves as America’s landscape. The host owns and operates two popular restaurants in Murphys, California – Grounds and Firewood. He also raises cattle and is a partner with Calaveras Cowgirl Beef.

During the series, Klass shows how he manages his cattle in Northern California, but they also travel to other ranching communities including Wyoming where they go behind the scenes at Cheyenne Frontier Days. “In Wyoming, you have so much country to cover and the ground is so rough that ATVs weren’t cutting it. It is horse country. And to doctor the cattle, or check fences, you get on your horse and ride for 30 minutes before you see anything. And not just ride, but trot. During this whole time, I’m looking at ground that you couldn’t grow a single piece of vegetation that humans could digest. But yet, the cattle are out there, digesting this food, and creating a beautiful protein for us to eat,” Klass said.

Part of the experience of the series is also to showcase why he and his family are raising cattle in Northern California. “When I see someone at the market looking at a chuck roast or ribeye, they are simply thinking about which cut they want to eat. Except they don’t think about where that protein came from. Asparagus doesn’t move,” Klass joked. “The farmer knows when and where it is going to come up and when to harvest it. The rancher has so many more moving parts to deal with – and most of these ranchers work a day job. So, all this work is done at nights or on the weekends and with the help of fellow friends.”

Ranch America is produced by Scott Leysath/Sporting Chef Productions of Folsom, California and airs exclusively on Outdoor Channel. For more information about Ranch America on Outdoor Channel, visit: www.outdoorchannel.com.

‘Heartland Waterfowl’ Hunts in North Dakota for Bonus Birds – Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sportsman Channel

OSG Logo New

DENVER (April 14, 2023) – Heartland Waterfowl, airing Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sportsman Channel, shares compelling stories through creative filming and honest experiences while promoting the true ethics of waterfowl hunting. This week’s episode features the November return to North Dakota with limits of green and a bonus trophy bird for Logan.

Heartland Waterfowl is hosted by Logan Burditt and Ronnie Philips. Burditt is a fifth-generation waterfowl hunter with roots originating from northeast Missouri. He was extremely fortunate to have been raised with numerous highly-qualified outdoorsmen in his life. Safety and animal conservation were strongly taught and enforced. He shot his first pheasant at the early age of seven with a 410 shotgun. He quickly became a fan of all bird hunting and saw his love of the sport intensify while playing college baseball at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

As a second grader from Marysville, Kansas, Ronnie was introduced to upland bird and deer hunting by his grandfather, David Curtis Carter. He learned about the outdoors from that man who made a name for himself as a multi-year Bird Dog Trial Champion in South Carolina and owner of Carter’s Shooting Preserve. Several years later, his passion for chasing upland birds shifted to waterfowl after his first afternoon duck hunt outside of Mound City, MO. After 22 years as a country music on-air radio personality, Philips decided to parlay that experience into his passion for the outdoors with the creation of Heartland Waterfowl.

Watch Heartland Waterfowl on Sportsman Channel on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. ET.
