From the ‘MeatEater’ Production Team – ‘Das Boat’ and ‘Fur Hat Ice Tour’ Debuts on Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel This Winter

OSG Logo New

Grab Your Parkas and Fishing Gear – MeatEater’s First Fishing Series Now Available

DENVER (December 17, 2021) – From the creative minds of MeatEater comes their first two fishing series, Das Boat and Fur Hat Ice Tour, debuting on Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel this winter.

In Das Boat, premiering on Sportsman Channel on December 31 at 9 p.m. ET and Outdoor Channel on May 2 at 8 p.m. ET, the MeatEater crew bought a 30-year-old Alumacraft on Craigslist and sent it on a road trip, visiting different locations and anglers. At each stop, a new duo of captains got one day to make whatever modifications they could. After that, the duo took that simple aluminum boat fishing.

Those trips turned into Das Boat. Follow along with Steven Rinella, Ryan Callaghan and April Vokey, along with Oliver Ngy, JT Van Zandt and Frank Smethurst. They’ll catch bass, gar, speckled trout and stripers, on lakes, rivers, estuaries and oceans.

For those who crave suspense, lust for adventure, and harbor an unfulfilled interest in high fashion— the MeatEater production crew has just the thing for you… ice fishing!

In Fur Hat Ice Tour, debuting on Sportsman Channel December 31 at 9:30 p.m. ET and on Outdoor Channel January 3 at 8 p.m. ET, Steven Rinella, Janis Putelis and others help to right some of the wrongs when it comes to ice fishing misconceptions. Whether labeled too gear intensive, too boring, or too miserable, ice fishing tends to have a bad rep.

In the first episode, Rinella takes Tracy Crane, an inexperienced and slightly skeptical first timer, ice fishing at a series of local neighborhood ponds. Their goal is modest and attainable: catch enough panfish for a meal.
