Landon Hall Appointed Editor in Chief of the Florida Sportsman Brand

DENVER (August 28, 2026) – Landon Hall has been appointed the Editor in Chief of the Florida Sportsman brand, “Your Outdoors Authority Since 1969,” and the premier sports brand for anglers, hunters and boaters in the Sunshine State, as announced by Michael Cassidy, Group Publisher at Outdoor Sportsman Group. Hall has been a freelance outdoor writer, photographer and content creator for a variety of regional and national outdoor lifestyle media outlets, and he specializes in saltwater fishing, hunting and coastal living. He has been a regular Contributing Editor to Florida Sportsman magazine.

A lifelong outdoorsman who has fished and hunted since childhood, Hall founded Outdoor Legacy Media where he has focused on telling stories that connect anglers, hunters, guides and conservation-minded outdoors enthusiasts with the traditions that make the sporting lifestyle unique. Hall enjoys all aspects of the outdoors, but he’s especially fond of snapper fishing and pursuing the rich variety of fish species found in offshore waters, and he also enjoys hunting for big game. Hall is particularly adept at constructing in-depth destination, species specific, how-to and gear-related content, which should serve him well as he oversees creation of all content for the respected brand.

“Landon brings incredible enthusiasm and a wealth of experience and leadership to the Florida Sportsman brand,” said Cassidy, “and his expertise and passion for regional storytelling makes him ideally suited to serve the dedicated and incredibly active audience of a brand that is nearing its 60th anniversary.”

Hall’s new responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of Florida Sportsman’s print and digital editorial properties. He is based out of St. Augustine, Florida, where he lives with his wife, Nicole, and son Jackson.

“My goal always has been to preserve the heritage of the outdoors while inspiring the next generation of sportsmen,” said Hall, “to build a legacy one story at a time. I’m honored to be assuming this role at this exciting time for Florida Sportsman,” Hall continued, “and while I certainly have big shoes to fill, I look forward to building this brand’s legacy of editorial excellence and environmental advocacy begun by Founder Karl Wickstrom and team.”

Jeff Foxworthy Talks About the Early Days, First Bucks, AI, and What Makes You Happy, all on ‘The Michael Waddell Podcast’

Foxworthy and Waddell Discuss Their Redneck Roots and Growing Up Rich

DENVER (August 26, 2026) – Join Host Michael Waddell as he sits down with fellow Georgia native and friend since the early days, renowned stand-up comedian, actor and TV show host Jeff Foxworthy. Best known for his iconic “You might be a redneck if…” one-liners and starring in the incredibly successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour during the early 2000s. He also hosted his own The Jeff Foxworthy Show, which ran on major networks during the mid-to-late ‘90s, as well as the extremely popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, which aired in several variations from 2007 to 2015. Along with his all-time best-selling comedy recordings – 1993’s You Might Be a Redneck if… and 1995’s Games Rednecks Play, Foxworthy has written numerous books, including “You Might Be a Redneck If…” the autobiographical “No Shirt, No Shoes… No Problem!” and “The Redneck Dictionary,” just to name a few. Foxworthy may be equally respected for the way he has conducted his professional career in the entertainment industry, for his faith and family life – he has been married to his wife, Pamela Gregg, for over four decades, has two daughters, Juliane and Jordan, and is now very much enjoying the role of grandparent – and for his passionate pursuit of the outdoor lifestyle, especially hunting whitetail deer with bow and arrow. Clearly, one of America’s most beloved comedians of all time, Jeff Foxworthy is our special guest on this episode of The Michael Waddell Podcast, presented by Spandau Arms and in partnership with Folds of Honor and Cigars International. In the beginning of Foxworthy’s stand-up comedy career, he had a run of about eight years where he was booked to perform nearly 500 times in a year. Though he’d been a hunter and angler since childhood, his rigorous schedule made it extremely difficult to find time to get back into the outdoors. That’s until he got a copy of Realtree Monster Bucks and it reawakened the hunter within:

“So, I never got to hunt; I never got to fish. I mean, I grew up hunting and fishing all the time, and then I got so busy I didn’t get to do it. I remember somebody sent me a Realtree tape, VHS of course, and we had a little bitty TV with a VHS player in the kitchen, and I put that tape in. My wife and I were making dinner, and I didn’t even know there were hunting shows, and they were showing these deer that were bigger than anything I’d ever seen in my life, and as they were doing it my wife goes, ‘Well, they’re not going to show it getting shot are they?’ and I said, ‘No, they ain’t going to…’ Kaboom! And I was like, ‘Oh, my word!’ I didn’t even know this was a thing, and then I was addicted to it. We never thought about filming a hunt!”

Foxworthy went on to host and star in many hunting programs over the years, and his hunting roots run deep. “The first buck I ever shot,” he said, “was a five-pointer, and maybe this big [holding his hands only inches apart]. But I remember, I’m sitting in one of those homemade, nailed 2x4s in the tree and I see something move on the little dirt road below me, and my first thought was, ‘There’s no way it’s a deer; that was a squirrel.” And then it moved a little bit more, and then I went, ‘Oh, crap, that’s a deer!’ I mean, this is a deer that’s close to me, and I ended up shooting him, and like I said, he was this big [motioning with his hands again]. Rode him around town all day long with him hanging out the tailgate so people could [see him]. It could have just as well been the state record. I couldn’t have been prouder of it. I cut his horns off, and they set next to my bed for years. For years! I mean, they were about that tall [motioning with his hands again] and sometimes I’d just pick them up [turning them in admiration] and say, ‘That’s a buck, Y’all!’”

Over his years of hunting on and hosting programs like Tecomate Whitetail Nation on Outdoor Channel, Foxworthy has seen and taken his fair share of big bucks, and today he actively manages his own Georgia property. “But I will tell you this. I don’t know how many deer I’ve seen in my life…20,000; but if I’m riding around my farm and two does run across the road, I still get excited. They still make my heart beat. I just think that I’ve learned to take care of them better over the years, but as far as joy, like I said, that little basket-rack eight… a 180-inch deer wouldn’t bring me any more joy than that deer did at the time.”

Now in his 60s, Foxworthy has a unique perspective on the value of hunting. “I’m an old dude now,” he said, “but I really think we’re all chasing that 10-year-old boy. That 10-year-old boy had fun. Crap, I remember leaving the house – one of you had a .22 and one of you had a 20 gauge – and [you’d] just go walking through the woods. Had no idea what we were doing. Had no idea what we were doing deer hunting, but we had a blast. I’d go weekend after weekend without seeing a deer, and by Tuesday, I’m like, ‘I’m going next weekend. I’m going!’ But you also learned about yourself. I read an article that was saying, ‘What we learned through all that was, we learned self-sufficiency. We learned how to cross a creek. We learned how to build a deer stand. We learned to work together to do things like that. We learned not to panic if we got lost. How many times did you get lost? All the time. Because there was no GPS. And eventually you’d come out on a road and you’d go, ‘Oh, I think I know where we are.’ But it was good for us. We learned about our capabilities and about the benefit of friendships when we were out doing those things.”

The Michael Waddell Podcast is produced by Outdoor Sportsman Group and is available widely on Outdoor Channel YouTube, MyOutdoorTV, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and OutdoorChannel.com, to name a few.

“It’s funny though, with hunting,” Foxworthy continued, “I went through years and years – it’s your job [pointing to Waddell] – with a cameraman with me, but that 10-year-old-boy, the thing that I liked, was I could go up there and whether you were sitting on the ground or up in a tree, you could unload your head and you could think, and then you’d go, ‘All right, I’m leaving that behind but I need to take that with me,” and I just got to the point – it dawned on me seven or eight years ago – I was like, ‘Man, I miss that,’ and so now I don’t want a cameraman. I just want to sit on the trail, and I don’t even want to pull my phone out. I just want to sit there and empty my head, because we don’t get that anymore. The devil’s got to fill up every moment of your being entertained, and I’m like, ‘No, there’s a reason that God said be still…Be still and know that I am God. …When you get somewhere you’re like, ‘My phone doesn’t work’ – good!”

In regard to his own happy up bringing and redneck roots that have spawned so much rich comedy, Foxworthy explained: “I used to tell people… like if I’d do an interview in New York, and they’d go, ‘How many people get offended by this?’ I said ‘Nobody. I said, because what you don’t understand is that if you gave rednecks a billion dollars, they’d still be rednecks. They’re just going to buy bigger trucks – put catfish in the pool – they don’t want to be anything else. They like their life. More guns, bigger trucks, four-wheelers, you name it. But they’re happy. And we were happy.”

“I’ve been blessed to share many hunting camps with Jeff Foxworthy, and to call him a friend,” said Waddell. “Not only is he one of the funniest people alive, he’s also a humble, caring man who is quick to share his faith and to help others, and I’m so very thankful to have had him in my court all these years. I cannot thank him enough for stopping by to spend time with me and share some laughs. For more classic Foxworthy, be sure to check out his new stand-up special, The Jokes On Me, streaming now on Fox Nation.”

The Michael Waddell Podcast releases new episodes every other week.

Waddell’s story began in the backwoods of Booger Bottom, Georgia, where he grew up surrounded by nature, family, and a love for the outdoors. A self-proclaimed “rowdy redneck,” his passion for hunting and storytelling led him to win a Realtree turkey-calling contest, which launched his career in the outdoor industry. From guiding and filming hunts to creating hit shows like Realtree Road Trips and Bone Collector, Waddell has become a beloved figure in the outdoor world.

Chris Wood Featured on the ‘Fly Fisherman Loop to Loop’ Podcast

DENVER (August 20, 2026) – On a recent episode (#36) of the Fly Fisherman Loop to Loop podcast, Ross Purnell, Publisher/Editor of Fly Fisherman Magazine, sits down with Trout Unlimited (TU) President and CEO Chris Wood at the TU headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss rescinding the Roadless Rule, the impact of data centers, what makes America great, and much more. Wood has led Trout Unlimited (TU), the leading non-profit organization dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and waters since 2001. Previously, he served as a senior policy advisor to the Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, which gives him tremendous insights to the value of America’s vast public resources as well as the effects of public policy on those lands and waters. While at TU, Wood has championed protection of public lands and watersheds – especially of vital cold-water sources – and he has successfully advocated for a variety of habitat restoration projects. Wood knows well the realities of forest management, the importance of protecting the backcountry, and both the pressures and ecological impacts of legislative changes. Given his experience at the U.S. Forest Service and his current stalwart defense of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which was enacted under the Clinton Administration and currently protects approximately 59 million acres of national forest lands from new road construction, commercial logging and other development, Wood shared the following insights:

“The Roadless Rule is the most conservative conservation measure of all time,” began Wood. “If you look at conservation as literally meaning, from the Latin root – conservare: to hold or keep in a safe state – that’s what we’re doing. We’re maintaining decision space for future generations, by leaving those areas alone, by not forgoing options for future generations, or compromising options. And we’re staring in the teeth of a nearly $10 billion with a ‘b’ maintenance backlog on the existing road system. It was the height of conservatism to basically say, ‘Why don’t we take care of the existing network of roads first, before we try to build roads into these backcountry areas to lose money on timber sales and then later to have those roads fall off the hillsides into the streams below.’”

“…This is not a substantive argument,” Wood continued, referring to the current push to rescind the Roadless Rule. “It’s a religious argument. It’s a deregulatory argument. It’s people who hate regulations are advocating for this. That’s all this is. This is not about common sense. …And you know what else? Wood added, “In the intervening quarter-century since the Roadless Rule was promulgated – that’s the term of art that we use – the position of the Forest Service has fundamentally changed. You know who wants to go into roadless areas the least? – the U.S. Forest Service!”

One of the current arguments for rescinding the Roadless Rule is forest management, suggesting that removing restrictions will improve wildfire prevention, but Wood was quick to confirm that people start most of the fires. “Eighty-five percent of fires on the national forest system are started by people,” he said, “and about the same percentage, 85 percent or so, are started within a half a mile of a road…and by the way, the Roadless Rule allows you to fight fires, and it even allows you to build roads to fight fires, to be clear…”

Again, referencing his earlier work at the Forest Service, Wood noted that their longer-term plan was to “…take these red-hot issues off the table [logging and wildfire prevention on the Roadless Areas] and allow the Forest Service to focus on the areas where they have the most social license to do the most good for both the health of the forest and for the safety of people as well.”

Without a doubt, preserving roadless areas on our national forests is key to conserving wild and native trout and salmon: “So, again,” Wood continued, “from the really narrow slice of geekdom that we exist in, where we care about trout so much, and all fisheries really, but trout in particular, roadless areas are the game. They are literally the game for trout and salmon. In places like Idaho, 68 percent of all bull trout habitat are found in either roadless or wilderness lands. In places like Southeast Alaska, the five salmon species in the Tongass National Forest, which produces about 40 percent of all the salmon that swim along the West Coast, it’s like 75-80 percent of all those fish are found in roadless areas. So, these are the strongholds of what remain for native trout and salmon… And they are among the best places to hunt and fish if you’re willing to walk a little bit.”

“I shot my first elk in a roadless area in Idaho,” Wood added, “…and in places like Wyoming, you’re 10 times more likely to be successful on your hunt in roadless areas as you are in roaded areas of those public lands.” So, clearly, protecting these roadless areas is important to hunters too.

Listen to the Fly Fisherman Loop to Loop podcast, in partnership with Patagonia, G. Loomis, Mayfly Outdoors, TroutRoutes and Cigars International, on Apple Podcast, YouTube, Spotify, and at FlyFisherman.com.

“We don’t believe rescinding the Roadless Rule is a good idea,” said Wood, “but in the end, the beauty of this country is these are the People’s lands. These are owned in common – managed in trust – but they’re owned in common by all of us. It’s one of the great virtues of being an American. It’s our birthright. You think about Europe with its museums and cathedrals that are hundreds of years older than our country, you think about Egypt and the pyramids, you think about Africa and the Serengeti. What makes America unique? It’s the fact that we as citizens of this country own this incredible network of public lands, and the gem of the public lands are these roadless areas. And that’s what’s at risk right now. But, again, only if we allow it to happen. We’re still a democracy, and our voices still matter, and right now this rule is a little bit in limbo. They’re still waiting to come out with a draft proposal. There will be a public comment period at that point. Probably it will be 35-40 days; it’ll be short, I bet. It’s going to be absolutely vital that people make their voices heard.”

Fortunately, Trout Unlimited has made it easy for you. “Simply go to TU.org, and we have a take-action page,” said Wood, “and you can take action today on roadless areas. You go there, just click on it, we make it really easy, geo-locate your URL – we know where you are – and we create a form that you can write to your members of Congress and tell them that you want to keep these areas intact. I think that pressure will have to come from all sides. We need to pressure the Administration, we need to pressure members of Congress, we need Governors to weigh in, and it’s just really important that people make their voices heard.”

“I’m so thankful that TU President and CEO Chris Wood found time to sit down with me at his office outside Washington, D.C. His advocacy for public lands and watersheds, for trout and salmon fisheries, but really for all wildlife and even for big game, has been tireless since joining TU about 25 years ago. His insights to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule are invaluable, and he rightly points out that roadless areas are the gem of our public lands. If you’re an angler or hunter who believes these roadless areas need to be protected, go to TU.org today and make your voice heard!”

Available on Apple Podcast, YouTube, Spotify, and at FlyFisherman.com the latest episode of Fly Fisherman Loop to Loop podcast is a must-listen for fly fishing enthusiasts of all levels who want to stay informed.

Travis ‘T-Bone’ Turner Returns to Talk Archery, 18+ Years of ‘Bone Collector’ and Adventures of All Kinds on ‘The Michael Waddell Podcast’

T-Bone and Waddell Discuss First Bows and Current Innovations in the Archery Industry

DENVER (August 12, 2026) – Join Host Michael Waddell as he sits down with longtime friend, hunting partner and bow tech, Travis “T-Bone” Turner, who co-hosts Bone Collector with Waddell and Nick Mundt on Outdoor Channel. A fellow Georgia resident from the Piedmont country southwest of Atlanta, Turner came from humble beginnings and learned to hunt and fish with his dad, who bought him his first bow, a recurve, when he was nine or ten years old. That recurve was too heavy for him to draw and shoot comfortably, so it would be quite a few years before Turner tried archery again. This time, he bought a compound bow at the behest of some hunting buddies, and that bow changed his life. Soon he entered a local archery tournament and won the “Novice” division, which further fueled his interest, and by the late ‘80s he was competing – and winning – in tournaments throughout the Southeast. Turner won the Georgia State Championship in 1990 and was invited to join a manufacturer’s shooting pro staff. Quickly climbing the shooter ranks, a year later Turner won the ASA World Championship. Turner’s success led to his shooting professionally and running a pro shop, and his natural aptitude for bow-tuning made him a trusted resource for the folks from Realtree who were based nearby. Soon he was setting up bows for them and for their guests on the Monster Bucks show, and before long they had invited him to appear on the program with comedian and host Jeff Foxworthy, and that’s when America met “T-Bone,” who is once again our special guest on this episode of The Michael Waddell Podcast, presented by Spandau Arms and in partnership with Folds of Honor and Cigars International. Five years ago, T-Bone developed an aggressive cancer that resulted in his losing part of his right leg, and given everyone’s continued concern, we’re happy to share this recent health update:

“I’m doing good,” said T-Bone. “I need to lose some weight… I just went last week, actually, to Emory Winship Cancer Center and did all my scans and blood work, and I was up there the whole day. I have to do it every six months now, and [there was] no sign of cancer. They don’t ever like to say ‘cancer-free’ because the kind of cancer I had – myxofibrosarcoma – has a pretty high [rate] of coming back. So, we’ve done real good. No sign of cancer on that. So, we’re good. We’ll just go another six months, living our life to the fullest. Just need to lose some weight, but other than that I’m good.”

For those who have followed Travis “T-Bone” Turner’s archery career and bowhunting on TV, that’s very good news. “Archery has been so good to me,” said T-Bone. “I never was good at much of nothing. I did play sports in high school and throughout, just because I was a big dude and filled a gap on the line. But when I started archery my second go-round, you know, right out of high school, I was obsessed. Even now, it’s something that no matter how good you are, you can get better. It’s ageless. No matter whether you’re four years old or 90, if you can bend the string, you can shoot a bow, and you can do it proficiently,” T-Bone exclaimed.

A Hoyt shooter for nearly three decades, T-Bone continues to keep archery as a central focus of his life, and he also closely follows what’s happening in the archery industry. “Each year, I’m just like a kid in a candy store,” said T-Bone, “‘Like, what are they doing?’” When questioned about whether innovations in bow technology have slowed or stalled, T-Bone was quick to respond. “Actually, the speeds probably aren’t growing by leaps and bounds like they were. We’re probably topped out in that 340-350 range as far as an IBO-rated speed, but you’re taking a bow that’s shooting that fast and you’re making it shootable now. Whereas… it’s extremely light, which is something that was unheard of, the whole mass [of the] bow is a lot lighter now, it’s quieter now, less vibration, so you’re getting shootability now. So, they’re directing their innovations in 340 fps and then they’re carving it out to where it’s extremely accurate as if it was a tournament bow that’s a 40-inch axle-to-axle bow. We’re doing that with a hunting bow anywhere from 30-34 inches axle-to-axle, so if you really cut up all the things they’re doing, yeah, innovation is still going on… It may not be growing leaps and bounds with speed, but they’re taking that speed and harnessing it into something that’s very shootable, very quiet and very freezer-filling.”

On this podcast, Waddell and T-Bone take a deep dive on arrows and other archery accessories that can improve bow setup and performance in the field, but T-Bone was quick to point out that there’s no substitute for practice. “Time behind a bow and building confidence in your setup is invaluable,” T-Bone began. “So many people try to buy themselves, ‘Hey, if I get this sight, or if I get this rest, or if buy this new vane, I’m going to be more accurate.’ There’s nothing that’s going to duplicate getting out there and shooting and building confidence, becoming one with your bow, becoming one with your arrow, and building that confidence so that when that nanosecond opportunity comes, because it only comes, you know, once, maybe twice, three times a year, especially for the average guy that can only hunt a little bit. You have to be prepared. There’s nothing that you can do, buying-wise, to increase your accuracy more than spending some time behind the bow, bending the string and getting some arrows down range. Just know that you’re going to be able to do it.”

“I see it time and again,” T-Bone continued, “and I know we’ve got busy lives, but everybody can scratch out time to shoot 5 or 10 arrows a day. That’s all you’ve got to do. You want to be able to shoot cold bore. But you need to do it 5 or10 times; put all your heart into it. Whereas so many people pull their bow out of the bow case two weeks before the season and try to crash-course and get back there. And they do okay, and there are some success stories, but at the end of the day, the guy that’s firing three or four days a week, you know, firing 15-20 arrows a day, is going to be so far above and beyond…”

The Michael Waddell Podcast is produced by Outdoor Sportsman Group and is available widely on Outdoor Channel YouTube, MyOutdoorTV, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and OutdoorChannel.com, to name a few.

Waddell led T-Bone into a conversation about the impact of certain new technologies and hunting practices. “I wouldn’t change the way I grew up hunting,” answered T-Bone, “because it helped build me as a hunter, and it’s part of my pedigree. But, I do like the things that are in place now, and because we do have great innovations like trail cameras, it has got me vested 12 months out of the year, meaning as my financial status can afford to – and I’m not going to put my family in ruins – I love planting a food plot, I love watching a trail camera 12 months out of the year so that I know what I am hunting and [can] go after a certain deer and or try to strategize all year long. Whereas before, I’d start scouting a month before. I wasn’t even thinking about hunting – turkey hunting – but I wasn’t thinking about deer hunting from when it ended in January until the first of August. I was onto something else. But now, I’m vested all year long…I enjoy this style of hunting because it makes me feel vested and it increases the pride factor because you feel like you’ve farmed or raised that deer because you knew he was there, you knew what size he was, you knew how old he was, and you were knowledgeable enough to get him to his full potential…if that’s your thing. It’s nice to have all those tools. If it’s legal; pop him!”

“I just love when T-Bone is around,” said Waddell. “We just have so much fun together, and I’m glad that he was able to free up some time for me to visit with him again. I admire him so much and he has been a continued blessing to me and my family and to our Bone Collector team, and I so look forward to the time when he feels healthy enough to be back on the road hunting with us again. I sure appreciate his setting up my Hoyt Carbon RX-10 for me – nobody tunes a bow like T-Bone!”
