GUN DOG Production Features Heart-pounding Upland Adventures
Behind Hard-Charging Bird Dogs

DENVER (April 11, 2023) – GUN DOG magazine announces the premiere of Wild Upland, a heart-pounding upland hunting adventure show dedicated to passionate wingshooters and their beloved bird dogs. Wild Upland debuts on Outdoor Channel on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m., with new episodes every Tuesday through June 20, 2023.

Hosted by Kali Parmley, Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher of GUN DOG magazine, and Associate Editor Nathan Ratchford, Wild Upland takes viewers on journeys through America’s untamed landscapes in pursuit of wild birds.

Wild Upland is an aspirational production dedicated to wing shooting adventure and the gun dogs that sustain the action. Blended with applicable dog training tactics, lessons in canine health and hunting how-to, viewers will gain knowledge on how to employ these tips to their own legend-worthy pursuits.

“We wanted to step away from the norm and create a unique television show that showcases passionate people, unique places, and most importantly, faithful bird dogs behind the sport we love most: upland hunting,” Parmley said.

The hosts of Wild Upland traverse some of the most remote locations of the United States in search of untamed adventure including Idaho for Hungarian partridge and California quail, Arizona for Mearns and scaled quail, South Dakota’s wild ring-necked pheasants, Maine’s Northwoods for ruffed grouse, and more.

James Beard Award Nominee Yia Vang Cooks More Invasive Species as a Delicacy

DENVER (April 10, 2023) – Season One of Feral featured pythons, iguanas, wild pigs, common carp and lionfish. Now, adventure-loving and culinary arts explorer Yia Vang is ready to chase, harvest, cook and eat more crazy creatures again on Outdoor Channel. Feral has been renewed and will premiere Season 2 in December 2023. The announcement was made today by Outdoor Sportsman Group Head of Programming Tim Cremin.

There are thousands of invasive and feral animal species around the world – and surprisingly, many of them are delicious. The show highlights the wilderness adventure, thrill of the chase and exploration of less-traditional hunted species with a fun host and engaging guests that are in search of unique and wonderful food prepared by Vang, a James Beard Award nominee and master chef.

A trained chef, avid traveler, angler and hunter, Vang is always up for a culinary challenge. He has been named Best Chef in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) multiple times, been featured on CNN’s United Shades of America, in the pages of National Geographic and graced the cover of the May 2020 issue of Bon Appetit.

Each 30-minute episode features Vang arriving in a new location, identifying an invasive species and coming up with a plan for catching and cooking it. Often with the help of a local expert who will guide him on his quest – and bear witness to his mistakes – Vang will do whatever it takes to create an amazing and unusual meal by the end of every episode.

The Outdoor Channel original series Feral airs during Monday nights “Taste of the Wild” programming block.
