Our Way of Life (NEW SERIES Premieres Monday, September 29 at 8 p.m. ET) – Alaska Native, Kootink, Heather Douville, documents her tribe’s cultural and hunting practices and knowledge, teaching and instilling these values in future generations through specialty pursuits exclusive to the Tlingit Nation. Heather has inherited the meaning of being a steward to the land: respecting what one takes from the land, giving back to the land, using as much as possible, and sharing with fellow tribe members. These core values define how Heather moves within her landscape of Tlingit Aani, or what is now called Southeast Alaska. This series will encapsulate the essence of celebrating the land, air, and water. It will share the story of their hunting and pursuit history lost while bringing it back alive and to the forefront.

McMillan (Season Thirteen Premieres Monday, September 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET) – From Hunting Camp, and the Farm and Ranch, the McMillan’s are doing everything country and bringing it all home to the table.

Travis ‘T-Bone’ Turner Joins ‘The Michael Waddell Podcast’ to Talk Resilience, Friendship and Faith

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is OSG-Email-Signature_ALL-LOGOS_2024.png

DENVER (September 25, 2025) – The Michael Waddell Podcast, presented by Spandau Arms and in partnership with Spartan Precision and Folds of Honor, welcomes Travis “T-Bone” Turner, a cornerstone of the Bone Collector Team. Turner shares a deeply personal and inspiring conversation about his life, career, and courageous battle with cancer. The Michael Waddell Podcast is produced by Outdoor Sportsman Group and is available widely on MyOutdoorTV, Outdoor Channel YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and OutdoorChannel.com, to name a few.

This episode reunites longtime friends Michael Waddell and Travis “T-Bone” Turner. The discussion chronicles their shared history, from T-Bone’s early days as a pro-shop owner and archery champion to becoming a beloved co-host of the iconic “Bone Collector” television show. For over two decades, T-Bone has been an integral part of Waddell’s journey in the outdoor industry.

Listeners will hear a candid account of T-Bone’s recent health struggles. He shares the story of his fight against a rare form of cancer, which ultimately led to the amputation of a portion of his right leg. The conversation explores the physical and emotional challenges of his journey, highlighting the immense power of faith, community support, and the bond of friendship that has helped him.

“The stuff we remember about our hunting trips together isn’t really about the deer, but it’s the camps, the talk around the fire, the travel to and from; that’s the things we talk about five, ten, twenty years later. The size of the deer doesn’t define the hunter. Just getting the deer, well, that’s just the cherry on top,” shared Turner.

The duo also discusses the healing power of the outdoors. They reflect on how their shared passion for hunting has provided strength and perspective during life’s most difficult moments. Their open dialogue offers a look at what it means to face adversity with courage and the importance of leaning on one another.

“The power of friendship is real,” shared Waddell. “When T-Bone and I talk on the phone, it’s usually 45 minutes or longer as he’s sharing what’s going on with his family, or just a quick question on equipment turns into a deep dive. That’s the stuff that matters. In the studio, I show my largest buck I’ve taken with a bow, and I’ve purposely not mounted him because I want to remind myself that, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. What matters are the friends and family and faith that surround you day in, day out. Keep those close.”

The Michael Waddell Podcast releases new episodes every other week.

Waddell’s story began in the backwoods of Booger Bottom, Georgia, where he grew up surrounded by nature, family, and a love for the outdoors. A self-proclaimed “rowdy redneck,” his passion for hunting and storytelling led him to win a Realtree turkey-calling contest, which launched his career in the outdoor industry. From guiding and filming hunts to creating hit shows like Realtree Road Trips and Bone Collector, Waddell has become a beloved figure in the outdoor world.

Exploring Alaska Native Cultural Legacy on ‘Our Way of Life’ Debuting September 29 on Outdoor Channel

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is OSG-Email-Signature_ALL-LOGOS_2024.png

MeatEater Creator, Heather Douville, Uplifts Tlingit Traditions

DENVER (September 17, 2025) From the studios of MeatEater, Outdoor Channel is proud to announce the premiere of Our Way of Life, a groundbreaking new series debuting on September 29 at 8 p.m. ET. Hosted by Tlingit Nation member Heather Douville, the series offers an intimate look into the cultural, hunting, and culinary practices of the Tlingit people, celebrating their deep connection to the land, sea, and community.

Heather Douville, known by her traditional name Kootink, belongs to the Shank’weidi clan (Eagle/Wolf) and is a content creator at MeatEater. Through Our Way of Life, Douville shares her tribe’s traditions, values, and knowledge, passed down for over 10,000 years through storytelling and practice. The series is a heartfelt journey of reconnection, resilience, and stewardship, offering viewers a rare glimpse into the Tlingit way of life.

Our Way of Life is a celebration and representation of who we are as stewards of the land,” said Douville. “It’s about respecting what we take, giving back, and sharing with our community. I hope this series inspires people to connect with their food, their culture, and their roots, no matter where they are in their journey.”

The series follows Douville and her father, Michael, as they document seasonal practices, from harvesting herring eggs in the spring to crafting traditional náxw (halibut hooks) and sewing sea otter fur garments. Each episode highlights the Tlingit Nation’s deep respect for the land and its resources, emphasizing the importance of using what is taken and sharing with others.

Douville’s journey to reconnect with her culture began as a young adult when she returned to her ancestral home in Southeast Alaska. Taught by her father and elders, she embraced the practices of hunting, harvesting, and stewardship with reverence and respect. Her vulnerability in sharing this journey on her Instagram page (@akmoosie) has resonated with audiences worldwide, inspiring others to explore their own heritage and connection to the natural world.

“My dad taught me how to hunt from a skiff later in life, and it was transformative. He wanted me to finish my education in the lower 48, while I wanted my education to come from him,” she shared. “It’s never too late to learn, unlearn, and grow. My hope is that this series empowers youth, women, and people of all ages to embrace their culture and share.”

The series also addresses the challenges of preserving Indigenous traditions in today’s world, from navigating modern regulations to combating the erosion of cultural knowledge at the hands of colonization. Douville’s work is a testament to the resilience of the Tlingit people and their unwavering commitment to passing down their heritage to future generations.

“Kids are sacred in our culture,” Douville explained. “I want my nieces, nephews, and all youth to know they are valued and have a purpose. By practicing our culture—using all parts of the fish, respecting the land, and sharing with others—we teach them the values that define who we are.”

Our Way of Life is a production from MeatEater, where Heather works as a content creator, offering a unique opportunity to amplify Indigenous voices and share the Tlingit Nation’s story with a broader audience.
